Michelle Louis was recently awarded the Vivian Hurst Award for consistently exhibiting the highest level of professionalism. A nurse at Hialeah Hospital for more than 20 years, Louis has worked in several areas of the hospital. The award, which was first given in 1995 to recognize individuals within the company who demonstrate an unwavering commitment to the nursing profession, is named for Vivian I. Hurst, RN (1905-1985), a long-time employee of Hialeah Hospital and a charter member of its board.
Regional Medical Center,
Lillian Weir, nursing administrative supervisor, was recently named Outstanding Health Care Worker because of her dedication to the hospital and many outside charities. Weir has worked at Parkway since 1968. In her name, the hospital and Tenet Healthcare Foundation have made a donation to St. Basil Catholic Churchs Cancer Center Support Group and the Leukemia-Lymphoma Society.

Karen R. Stephenson has been named clinical nurse specialist/coordinator of oncology services. She will assess and develop clinical cancer programs and initiatives, working with related health care professionals and departments.
Patricia Rodriguez, surgical ICU, was recently inducted into the Tenet Caregiver Hall of Fame. Award winners were selected from dozens of nominees based on criteria that included extraordinary examples of patient care, devotion to service and technical skills, and favorable comments from coworkers, patients, families, and physicians.
South Miami Hospital
Patricia M. Collins has received the 2005 Oncology Nursing Society Excellence in Pain Management Award. Collins is a clinical nurse specialist and the hospitals Magnet coordinator. The award recognizes her as an expert oncology nurse in the area of pain management through her publications and presentations. The award also honors her significant contributions to pain management in professional and patient education, clinical practice, and nursing research.
Take Care of Sarasota, Inc.
As part of the Employee Recognition Program, Michelle Campbell recently received a $50 cash bonus for her compassionate care and nursing ability, as judged by patients and coworkers. Susanne Wise, executive administrator, has joined the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers.
Jean Shinners was recently named director for learning, and Janet Batchelder was appointed director for standards, practice and outcomes.
Lisa Nummi was recently appointed as the new associate patient care officer, responsible for enhancing patient flow in the ED and assisting with financials and preparation for Joint Commission surveys.

As part of National Nurses Week and National Hospital and Healthcare Week celebrations, St. Marys donated $500 to the American Stroke Association on behalf of its 2005 Outstanding Employee, Marietta Nardo, telemetry.
